BlackBerry maker out of options in legal fight
I really dislike the Blackberry that I have to carry for work - it has to be one of the most poorly designed communication devices I’ve ever used, and the “Nextel”:http://www.nextel.com network has to be one of the least reliable I’ve ever dealt with. The majority of engineers in my department carry their own phones in addition to their Blackberrys, because they’re so unreliable and disliked.
Having said that, though, what’s happening to RIM courtesy of NTP is a crock. If there’s a “poster child” case for how the current patent system is broken, this is it. It looks like NTP has won - and I hope they choke on their ill-gotten gains. Once again, lawyers triumph while everyone else suffers. First against the wall…
